Introduction
Make an impact by shaping how our stories reach and inspire audiences. The Marketing & Communications Strategist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering the Courtyard Playhouse’s marketing and communications activities. Working in collaboration with the General Manager and Brand & Systems Consultant, you will oversee the theatre’s overall marketing efforts — from campaign planning and press releases to coordinating the work of social media and design staff.

This role combines strategy with hands-on delivery: you will ensure that all campaigns and communications reflect the Playhouse ethos, strengthen our community presence, and build loyal audiences.

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • 4+ years in marketing, communications, or PR (experience in arts, culture, or education strongly preferred).
  • Experience coordinating campaigns across multiple channels (PR, social media, design, print).
  • Strong writing, editing, and campaign-planning skills.
  • Organised and confident in managing timelines and workflows (experience with Asana a plus).
  • Comfortable providing direction to a small creative team.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in theatre, live performance, or cultural organisations.
  • Knowledge of the UAE media landscape.
  • Familiarity with arts marketing metrics and audience development strategies.

What you'll do:

Marketing Strategy & Campaigns

  • Develop quarterly marketing strategies in collaboration with the GM and Consultant.
  • Plan and coordinate integrated campaigns for productions, workshops, festivals, and special events.
  • Oversee campaign timelines and ensure marketing activities are delivered on schedule.
  • Analyse campaign performance and provide recommendations for improvement.

PR & Media Relations

  • Draft and distribute press releases, media kits, and newsletters.
  • Build and maintain relationships with press, media, influencers, and cultural partners.
  • Track coverage and prepare reports on PR impact.

Team Coordination

  • Coordinate and guide the work of the Social Media Coordinator and Designer.
  • Provide feedback, deadlines, and ensure cohesion across platforms and media.
  • Use Asana to manage workflows and keep projects on track.
  • Ensure that all messaging and design output aligns with the Playhouse brand and values.
  • Liaise with departmental supervisors and managers in management meetings.

Community Engagement

  • Champion storytelling that reflects the Playhouse ethos of kindness, creativity, and collaboration.
  • Ensure that marketing campaigns foster loyalty among audiences and highlight our role as a community hub.
  • Support the use of photography and creative assets in campaigns.

Your experience and skills

  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for theatre and the arts—champion initiatives and inspire others with genuine commitment.
  • Proven ability to approach challenges constructively—think creatively when under pressure, propose practical solutions, and adapt to change.
  • Strong organization and time management—plan work in advance, manage competing priorities, and reassess when challenges arise.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator—engage positively with colleagues, audiences, and partners; facilitate team cohesion and resolve misunderstandings smoothly.
  • Finesse in content creation and campaign planning—develop original, brand-aligned material and coordinate delivery across channels.

Are you comfortable working on shift basis. We are a theatre so we have different shifts each week based on what is going on, including some weekends and evenings. This is NOT a 9 - 5.

The Courtyard Playhouse is more than just a theatre. It’s more than just a training centre. The Playhouse is an idea born out of a passion for improv, for creative expression and a desire to create a space where a community of theatre-lovers and practitioners can thrive. It is a home for the performing arts.
