Introduction

The Courtyard Playhouse is seeking talented and adaptable Freelance Corporate Role Play Actors to support our Corporate Academy programmes.

This is a freelance, as-needed position, with work offered based on client bookings and programme demand. While we cannot guarantee a minimum number of engagements, we are looking to build a reliable pool of role play actors who are available to work with us throughout the year.

Working alongside our facilitators, you will bring realistic workplace scenarios to life, helping participants develop practical skills in leadership, communication, customer service, performance management, coaching, conflict resolution and other professional competencies.

This is not traditional theatre. Our role play actors create authentic workplace interactions that challenge participants, encourage reflection and enhance learning. Every programme is different, offering the opportunity to portray a wide range of characters across diverse industries and organisational settings.

A Day in the Life

One day you might portray a manager delivering difficult feedback to a team member. The next, you could play a frustrated customer, an underperforming employee or a senior executive navigating a complex leadership challenge.

You'll work closely with facilitators to understand the learning objectives, prepare for each scenario and adapt your performance to participants' responses. Every interaction should feel authentic, allowing participants to practise real workplace conversations in a safe and supportive environment.

What You'll Do

  • Portray realistic workplace characters during corporate training programmes
  • Deliver authentic, engaging and consistent role play performances
  • Improvise naturally while remaining aligned with the scenario objectives
  • Adapt your performance based on participant behaviour and facilitator direction
  • Attend programme briefings and review character profiles before sessions
  • Collaborate closely with facilitators and fellow role play actors
  • Support leadership, communication and behavioural learning through realistic workplace simulations
  • Participate in rehearsals, pilot sessions and programme development where required
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality and psychological safety throughout all engagements
  • Provide observations and feedback during programme debriefs when requested
  • Represent The Courtyard Playhouse professionally when working with corporate clients

What We're Looking For

  • Previous acting, improvisation or role play experience
  • Strong improvisation skills and the ability to think quickly under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Emotional intelligence and active listening skills
  • The ability to portray a range of believable workplace personalities and behaviours
  • Professionalism, reliability and punctuality
  • Confidence receiving direction and adapting your performance
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to support the wider team
  • Fluency in spoken English
Desirable
  • Experience in corporate role play or simulation-based learning
  • Background in Human Resources, Learning & Development, management, coaching or customer service
  • Formal acting or improvisation training
  • Experience facilitating workshops or training sessions
  • Understanding of workplace dynamics and organisational behaviour
