Perks of working at The Courtyard Playhouse

  • Part-time, on-site role in a creative theatre environment

  • Creativity is encouraged—bring ideas, not just tasks
  • Real ownership of your work in a small, family business team

A week in the life of our Theatre Experience Host

You’ll welcome walk-ins with warmth, approach passers-by, and invite them in for a quick look around that often turns into a memorable tour. You’ll run engaging venue tours that connect what guests want (fun, confidence, community, learning, venue hire) to the right workshop, class, or experience—then confidently ask for the booking. Between guest moments, you’ll keep the front-of-house guest-ready, share qualified leads with the FOH Coordinator, and help the team stay aligned on what’s working. You’ll be surrounded by creativity—joining socials, staying active with the wellness programme, and learning through free theatre workshops. Most importantly, you’ll see direct impact: more guests feeling welcome, more bookings made, and more joy shared.

What you’ll do

  • Increase walk-in engagement: You will warmly greet visitors and proactively invite passers-by inside to grow tours and enquiries.
  • Turn tours into bookings: You will deliver persuasive, guest-focused tours that lead to clear next steps and on-the-spot sign-ups.
  • Convert interest into revenue: You will recommend the right classes/workshops, handle common objections, and close in-person sales.
  • Create memorable guest experiences: You will deliver consistently high-quality interactions that encourage return visits and word-of-mouth.
  • Strengthen follow-up outcomes: You will hand over qualified leads clearly to the FOH Coordinator to support smooth next-day follow-ups.

Your experience and skills

  • In-person sales conversion: You consistently use a closing approach in most interactions, and you secure contact details with a clear follow-up step when guests aren’t ready to book.
  • Persuasive tour delivery & storytelling: You tailor the tour to what the guest cares about, and you naturally transition from the tour to a recommended next step (trial class, booking, follow-up).
  • Guest engagement & welcome: You proactively approach passers-by with a short invitation pitch, and you use a few simple discovery questions to guide the conversation.
  • Customer experience & service quality: You anticipate common guest needs (timings, what to bring, suitability) and you de-escalate mild issues with calm options and clear resolution.
  • Reliability, flexibility & work discipline: You’re reliable for part-time shifts, and you stay productive in quiet moments by initiating outreach and keeping your pitch tour-ready.
